Wendell Brown is the Co-founder and CEO of Averon. He is a computer scientist, serial entrepreneur and award-winning inventor with hundreds of patents to his name and innovations spanning telecommunications and internet technology, cybersecurity, smartphone app development, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He is regarded as a pioneer of the gig economy and the work-at-home virtual workforce industry. The unique intersection of his expertise led to Averon's breakthrough technology deploying automated carrier-based multifactor authentication, an invention expected to save literally billions of hours of wasted human effort worldwide, and recognized as a significant innovation in mobile authentication.
Career / Experience
Wendell started his career working for Steve Jobs as a software developer for Apple, and then became a game designer, designing and programming several best-selling games for Imagic and later Disney Interactive Studios. He then became an investor, advisor and mentor to numerous businesses, before launching his own entrepreneurial pursuits, inventions and patents.Wendell’s creative triumphs include building a global VoIP solution (Telea, acquired by Microsoft), founding America's largest online voicemail platform (eVoice, acquired by AOL/Time Warner) and creating one of the world's first cybersecurity solutions, a pioneering PC anti-virus technology (Walksoftly, acquired by Inte/Cybermedial).
Education & Affiliations
Wendell is a grauate of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. While at Cornell, he was awarded a Hughes Aircraft Bachelor of Science Undergraduate Fellowship.
Wendell is a passionate supporter of the Human Rights Campaign for the advancement of LGBT civil rights, and of global Jewish service organizations. His other passions include automobile innovation, new fuel technologies, and the development of new airplane, rocket, and electric vehicle designs. He is a licensed private pilot.
