Lea Tarnowski is the co-founder, President and COO of Averon. Lea has deep cross-domain experience as an accomplished investor in mobile, FinTech, and consumer internet. Lea is a Harvard Business School graduate, a Kauffman Fellow, and holds MSc degrees from Stockholm School of Economics and HEC Paris.

Career / Experience

Lea's career began in investment banking at Morgan Stanley where she worked as Chief of Staff to the President for a year, and the rest of the time in M&A, private equity and leveraged finance. She also worked as an associate at McKinsey. She spent the last decade investing in technology companies at one of Europe's leading venture capital funds, Northzone, as well as an angel investor.  While Investment Director at Northzone, Lea focused on the fintech, mobile, and marketplace sectors, and invested in companies such as iZettle (acquired by Paypal for $2.2bn), TrustPilot and ArtFinder.

Lea has served as an angel investor, board member, and advisor where her portfolio includes Zesty, Boosterfuels, and Qapital, among others. She also advises select funds.

Education & Affiliations

A Kauffman Fellow, Lea holds a Harvard MBA and an MSc in Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics and HEC Paris. She is an active participant in the World Economic Forum community and often represents Averon at WEF gatherings at the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center and beyond. She has served on a variety of corporate boards as well as on the Board of SVCA, the Swedish Venture Capital and Private Equity association. She is an active mentor at various accelerators, and a Hybrid Reality Fellow.


Lea lives with her husband and daughter in San Francisco. Lea is passionate about building mission-driven communities, including fostering trust in the digital world. She is leading Averon’s mission to help users to more easily and safely connect online in a more authentic digital world. Lea’s other passions include nutrition, fitness, performance hacking, and mentoring, especially women in technology.


Lea is actively involved in the World Economic Forum (WEF) community and has spoken at WEF events focused on cybersecurity and creating a safe digital world.
